ICC Hosts Third Annual General Merchandise Roadshow

ICC held its third annual general merchandise roadshow exhibition on the 3rd August 2012 at Vodaworld in Midrand. The purpose of the roadshow was to bring ICC's key suppliers and members together under one roof to showcase new and existing product in preparation for the stores Spring, Christmas and the Back to School campaigns.

The exhibition went extremely well, with an excellent turnout from both the suppliers and buyers side. Kevin Barrett from the ICC was pleased with the exhibition and congratulated the suppliers on their fantastic stands and going out of their way to showcase their products in the most effective manner possible.

Suppliers with exciting new product ranges included GloCell, Lumoss Mouldings, Buy More, Crane Distributors and ETG (Elegant Travel Goods) to name a few.

Glocell, represented by Grame Matthews, has been in partnership with ICC for only five months and are extremely excited about the way forward. "We specialise in the cellular and pre-paid market catering for LSM 3-7 and provide ICC stores with the ability to trade in this highly competitive market with limited financial risk to the store. With regards handsets, we provide all stock on consignment to ICC stores, giving stores stock and price protection against the continuous fluctuation of market prices. We also encourage stores to sell handsets with sim cards only, giving the store the ability to earn a passive income from the percentage of airtime bought going forward. Our bulk printing solution also helps ICC stores become resellers of airtime and earn a profit margin off this."

Buy More, represented by Marketing Director Brandon Katz, supply big wholesalers throughout Southern Africa. Their products include crockery, glassware, stainless steel, plasticware, melamine, hardware, acrylic and pet produce. Katz comments: "We provide a wide range of products in each category, from low to high price points and we pride ourselves in offering new and unique products. Some of our best selling lines include the Butt Bucket for the hygienic disposal of cigarette butts in places like cars as well as the new range of funky Slushy Wizard lighters." Buy More has been working with ICC for a number of years and maintain they are the best supplier, providing the best goods at the best value.

Crane Distributors were also present and demonstrated how their product can give ICC stores the ability to sell colour photographs from their customers cell phones. The device allows the customer to blue tooth the image to the machine and print the copy for around R4.50 in less than two minutes. This provides another avenue of sales for ICC stores, as most phones nowadays have both camera and blue tooth functionality, and allows customers to print treasured photos from their cell phones.

Ian Eadie from Lumoss Holdings was also at the roadshow exhibiting their range of plasticware and stationery. "We pride ourselves in offering goods that are made in South Africa, manufactured in our factory in Wineberg, Sandton. We have just listed our lines with ICC to go in all ICC stores in the near future."

ICC's team were at the exhibition including Kevin Barrett, Karen Herselman, Shane Colloty, Cedric Appel, Bryan Williams, Gert Scheepers and Dwayne Dorland.
