Are you the next young Community Shaper?

General Criteria:

  • You must be between 16 and 25 years of age.
  • You must run a community upliftment project.
  • You may not have a criminal record.
  • Where possible, you must provide proof of your project. (News clippings, certificates, photographs, etc.)
  • You must write an essay (max. 300 words) about your project and how it’s helping your community.
  • You must attach a copy of your ID.


Categories:

Compulsory Category:

You must run a valid community upliftment project from which you do not benefit financially. The project must have been started by you and be running for at least one year. You must also fit into one of the two sub-categories listed below.

Sub Categories:

  • Social Upliftment: including AIDS & Drug Counselling, Feeding Schemes, Cultural Projects, Nursing etc.
  • Skills Transfer: for candidates that invest their time in transferring their skills & knowledge on to the youth.


Competition Process:

  • Closing date for entries is 2 June 2014.
  • One finalist from each region will be selected to go to the finals.
  • Finalists will be transported to Johannesburg and accommodated for the national finals.
  • The finals will take place between 27 July – 30 July 2014
  • The Gala event will be held on 29 July 2014


Prize Money

Prize money is as follows:

  • Overall winner: R60 000
  • Runner-up: R30 000
  • The remaining finalists will each receive: R10 000


Rules & Conditions:

  • Closing date is 2 June 2014. Entries received after this date will not be accepted
  • Employees of the ICC Group , ABSA, Daily Sun, Streamline Advertising and their immediate families are not eligible to enter
  • The finalists must be available between 27 – 30 July 2014 for final judging in Johannesburg
  • The finalists will be interviewed individually by a panel of judges before a final decision is made. No other contact may be made with the judges
  • The winners must be willing to be photographed for promotional purposes
  • Prizes are not exchangeable or negotiable
  • The two final winners will play the role of ambassadors for a one year period. They will not be allowed to enter any other competition in direct conflict with this one for theduration  of their reign
  • The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
  • The organisers are not responsible for any injury, loss, or accident which may be directly or indirectly linked to this competition. Candidates enter this competition completely at their own risk
  • The organisers have the right to disqualify any individual at their discretion.
